From Shirley Williams (mother of 2004WSOP Main Event runner-up, David Williams): at we had been playing at the same $2/5 No Limit table the night bef
Hi Richard,
I just wanted to say that I LOVED your book. It was hard for me to put down.
I really liked the internet parts because I play on-line. Thank you again for
it.
Shirley Williams
(David's mom)
p.s. I also look forward to playing you again in the 2/5 at the Mirage. I will
not be as nervous as I was my first night and will not let you steal all my
blinds like you did ;)
From Adam Bailey:
Mr. Sparks, I just finished your book and wanted to let you know
how
much I enjoyed it. I could not put it down. I found your writing style to be
intoxicating and look forward to reading more of your work. Anyway, thanks for
opening up your life and sharing your adventure. I enjoyed it 1000%.
From Stew Herrera:
Just thought I'd drop you a note to let how you know that I am REALLY
enjoying your book, Richard. Although I enjoy playing (badly), I wouldn't have
thought a book on the
subject could have held my interest, but I cannot put it down!
I can only assume that reading it will lead to my game's eventual
improvement, if not lots of maddening self-assesment and serious
introspection.

It's a pleasure to read an informative book on poker which is
not overly technical. Diary of a Mad Poker Player is an interesting addition
to my library of poker books because it actually informs my game in an entertaining
manner.
Mr. Sparks weaves useful information and tips into interesting
narratives based on his casino game experiences and on-line adventures. I can
find a dozen books that will dryly tell me that if player "X" does
"Y" when I am in late position, I should do "C". This book
illustrates in a colorful way how the situation would play out and, in a manner
of practical, real-life illustration, makes clear why "C" is the best
move. This method paints a picture which I can recall and use days later at
the casino.

Go get the book "Diary of a Mad Poker Player"..
It's decent..
What I like most about it is how he talks with the owners of Party Poker, Paradise
and Poker Stars...and how they detail their security measures...
Alot of talk about how bad beats just seem too bad, collusion, and even the
sites having their own robotic players...
Very interesting...
Makes me feel better and better about playing online..
They are safe..

Thanks for the laughs and the thoughts..... It was a real joy
to
read.

Dear Richard,
I heard you on You Can Bet On It, put your book in my Amazon cart
and finally read it.
I loved it.
My 2 favorite parts:
1. The first half. I enjoyed reading about which hands you play and which hands
you dread.
Also, I smiled and told my wife how you emptied your account one evening only
to discover the next day that your wife had won it back.
She is the MVP.
2. the interview with Sam Farha. What a beast! Keep him away from me.
All the best and GL in your families future.
Warmest Regards,
Mike

Maybe you recall meeting my father and I last Wednesday at Borders
Books, my

From Joe Lauria
Richard,
I want to thank you for a most enjoyable evening. It was a pleasure
meeting
you and listening to your anecdotes. Your book is the icing on the cake, I am
recommending it to everyone I know regardless of their interest in poker.
Thank you,
Joe Lauria

I have just finished reading DOAMPP and wanted to let you know
how damn
thoroughly I enjoyed it. Warm and envious congratulations.
I am busily recommending it around. As a non-poker player, virtually
a non-card player, my head
occasionally span - thanks for the glossary - but, hell, the mental stretch
was good for me.
The rush of p129 was a particularly brilliant tour de force, to get
downright specific.
I especially loved the steady injections of philosophy of games,
sport,
luck, amateurism along the way. Some real profound moments with a light
touch. When you extrapolate wider home truths from a game with such
originality and wit it works really well.
A great narrative ride, too, of course. Good flow, smart structure,
neat trip-ups. Relished, too, the splendid tales of great players, like Tuna's
epiphany. And an overdue fresh take on aspects of Vegas and
gambling.
Anyway, great stuff. I hope you're basking in some glowing satisfaction
and that, in book terms, the destination is living up to the journey.
Big congratulations again.
Grant
